I visit a 90 year old woman each week as a volunteer for Hospice. We've had weekly visits for about a year and a half. Each week her daughter feeds me gourmet homemade meals that I am not allowed to refuse. The woman tells me of the days when rivers ran through Brooklyn, and sodie shops were on the corner. She praises me for my acting (she's never seen me, unfortunately) and tells everybody how busy I am with school (I'm not in school), directing a play (I only acted & produced) and tries to set me up with her nurse's son by giving her the headshot I gave to her to post on her fridge in hopes that her son notices. She calls me and leaves messages saying, "I'm about to burst with news, Liz. You gotta call me back. You gotta." Turns out the news is that her nurse is going to bring her son to my play. I smile over the phone and say "That sounds nice." And secretly, it does.
