1. After living in trailers for the first twelve years of my life, my family moved into our first house, the house where parents still live.
2. One day in P.E. class while hanging from my knees on the uneven bars, I decided that I really should try to hang by ankles like my mom had challenged me to do many times before, afterall there was a mat to protect me, but when I tried I fell, missed that mat, and landed on my head. I don't remember much from that day except the doctor asking me what year is this.
3. Since the tiny Christian school I attended didn't have the funds for a 5th and 6th grade teacher, our principal taught/babysat my sixth grade class most of the time, so we convinced him to let us watch Perry Mason during lunch everyday; this somewhat made up for having to take P.E. classes with 6-10th grade boys and girls.
4. The furry teddy bear costume my grandmother sewed me for a Christmas play was so believable that the audience gasped when the teddy bear came to "life."
5. When I tried to argue that the n-word was a just a word, my friend began crying as she described how she felt when someone called her that name; I never made that argument again.
