1. I started the sixth grade, taught by Mr. Mariani, who was new to our school.
2. My parents bought an Apple IIc computer for my sister and I, with which I immediately began writing trite BASIC language programs.
3. For my birthday I got my first boom-box, along with cassette tapes of Huey Lewis and the News' album Sports, and Men At Work's album Business As Usual.
4. I got detention for the first time and had to copy an entire dictionary page by hand for Mr. Mariani.
5. My sister let me go to a high school dance with her and her friends.
