I want a modified Viking ceremony. The original concept of a body being sent off on a flaming boat with offerings is probably not legal anywhere in the world, so my modified ceremony consists of the following...
You will need: One (1) hand-built and seafaring raft, one (1) battery powered boom box, one (1) CD or tape containing one recording of Tim Buckley's "Song To The Siren," one (1) metal box with my cremated remains contained therein, one (1) container of lighter fluid, one (1) matchbox with strike anywhere matches and one (1) long push stick.
Please cremate my remains and place them in a metal box (preferably bronze or iron).
Place my remains on a small raft on the edge of the Salton Sea.
Along with my remains, I would like offerings of letters to me, my art supplies, my favorite outfit (ask my brother Colton...he will know) and any additional objects placed on the raft.
Please douse the raft with lighter fluid and set the raft on fire.
Push the raft away from the shoreline using a long stick.
Please push play on the boom box and let the entire recording of "Song To The Siren" play once the raft has moved away from shore.
Stand silently and watch the raft burn. My remains will sink to the bottom of the sea when the raft falls apart. I will remain at the bottom of the sea.
Come and visit the Salton Sea often.
