you can barely see the scar in this picture. it's tiny and right underneath my finger.
  
i've had this scar for 4 years now, and it's faded lots in that time.
  
it used to be purple and raised, like a miniature speedbump.
  
this scar is from the laparoscopic surgery i had, when i was 27, when i had myself sterilized. now I have tiny plastic staples with sharp teeth clamped down on my fallopian tubes, keeping them shut and preventing any eggs from reaching my uterus.
  
now the choice is entirely mine.
  
i say if.
  
i say when.
  
tying my tubes was the most positive and empowering thing i've done for myself.
