I haven't really thought about what I'd like to happen to my body when I die. Maybe I should. I will.
It's easy to say what I don't want. I don't want to be buried, or wrapped up in any way - with a big blanket or tarpaulin. Nor do I want to be associated with anything ceremonial. That narrows down the options. Scientific research would be ok. Maybe I could help in some way, or be part of a huge trial to stop a disease. Or be part of a smaller experiment to prevent a new disease that we don't know about yet. I wouldn't mind that.
It would be ok to split bits of me off, but I'm not sure what the individual components would be useful for. My bones could be used to make replica cave tools, my teeth could also be used in a museum setting to illustrate an elementary counting device. Perhaps some areas of skin could make a canvas to paint on. Maybe the lines on my stretched skin would make an interesting design and people would like to look.
These are just ideas though. I'll probably end up just being cremated, and if there's anyone still around who knows what I like, maybe they'll put my ashes under a big tree in a quiet wood. That would be best.
