Me: hello uncle

Uncle: hey Alice! What a surprise. How are you?

Me: I'm alright. What about you?

Uncle: Mah, same old thing

Me: umm, there's something I've been wanting to tell you.

Uncle: ohÉalright. So what's up?

Me: You know, I actually visited San Francisco high school senior year for the entire Spring break. I don't know why, but at the time, I just figured it would probably be the best not to tell you, since I know you don't drive and stuff, so I didn't want to trouble you.

Uncle: Oh, you did? You should've at least called to say hello or something

Me: I know, I really should've. Now I regret everyday for doing what I did.

Uncle: Ay, don't worry. I understand. You just thought we would get plenty of chances to see each other in the future, that's all.

Me: I don't think I can emphasize how sorry I am. I loved coming to visit you when I was young. I remember when I was still in Taiwan, you would always tell Dad to bring me sweaters, jewelry boxes, clothing, and all these little things I used to love when I was a girl. Do you remember that?

Uncle: Hahahah. Of course! I am surprised that you remember that. Your Dad and I had to spend hours in the women's clothing department, just trying to find something you might like.

Me: Hahahha. Well, I never had a chance to say thank you. But because of your presents, I had something to look forward to every time Dad came home from San Francisco.

Uncle: Well, I know we don't see each other that often, but I'm happy as long as you are happy.

Me: Uh, I know you probably have to go pretty soon. I just wanted to tell you how sorry I am for never spending the effort and time to keep on contact with you.

Uncle: Don't worry about it, life has no room for regrets right? Tell your Dad to stop worrying about me. I'm fine! This is the life I chose, and I'm more content than what all of you might think.

Me: You know, that's all I needed to hear. Have a safe trip. We'll miss you! Take care of yourself. I'm glad I have a chance to say goodbye before you leave.

Uncle: Sure. I'm glad that you called. Bye! Say hello to the family for me.

Me: I will. I'll see you later.

Uncle: Okay okay, take care.
