me: ok, mom, you really need to stop coming into my room
mom: I'm just trying to keep up with the dishes, you have so many in there, not to mention the 4 empty cans of beer you had on your desk
me: I will bring the dishes, which really are just glasses down when I feel so inclined. also, you need to stop taking my mug from the bathroom downstairs, every time I take my pills it's never there, and I always find it in the dishwasher
mom: why are you so upset that I go in to your room only to take the glasses out? it's not that big of a deal, I'm not there to snoop
me: because, the point is that every single room in this house is yours and after living on my own for 4 years, all I have is this 14x11 space to call my own. that's it. I'm confined to this, and I don't want anything you do to invade this precious piece of land. I know you don't like to look at my room, which is why the door is always shut, and I would really appreciate it if you didn't come in to get the dishes, all you have to do is ask. I'm 24 and if I feel like living with 3 glasses on my desk I will. we have enough downstairs to last at least a week, and by then, I'm usually tired of them anyway.
mom: you can't leave dirty dishes on your desk for a week. they need to be cleaned out, otherwise they are going to attract bugs into the house and I don't want that happening. I keep a clean house and you are a bad reflection of that.
me: well, shut the door, you don't have to look at it.
mom: it's my house and I want you to do what I tell you to do. if you don't like it leave.
(I then walk out of the room and go back to my bedroom and shut the door)
